Stanford GSB-affiliated alumni have been active in Hong Kong since the 1977 founding of the Stanford Club of Hong Kong for the overall university alumni community. At the time, there were less than 10 total Stanford Graduate School of Business alumni in the city. Subsequently, a GSB Hong Kong Chapter was established.

Following a period of inactivity, formal re-launch of the HK Chapter was discussed at a November 2010 dinner at Cipriani’s, hosted by four of the Co-Founding Members, gathering a representative cross-section of 20 GSB-affiliated alumni. In 2011, Hong Kong Chapter was successfully relaunched, resulting in a series of high profile speakers and other events.

Today, with more than 450 Stanford GSB and Stanford Law School affiliated alumni in the Greater Bay Area alone, and over 1,000 Stanford University affiliated alumni overall, the HK Chapter is an important part of the Asia-based Stanford GSB alumni community (with 18 chapters in 14 countries/regions) as well as of the broader regional Stanford University alumni communities.
