Dear Alumni and Friends of the Stanford GSB Chapter of Hong Kong,

On behalf of the Stanford GSB Chapter of Hong Kong, we are delighted to invite you to an evening discussion on AI, hedge funds, and the growing tech divide with Alex Li (GSB ’15), Co-founder of Distilla AI, on September 1, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

The conversation around artificial intelligence is shifting from broad excitement to practical adoption, particularly in finance. Here in Hong Kong, we are seeing growing interest from hedge funds and other institutional investors in how AI can accelerate research, improve fundamental analysis, and help investment teams cut through noise. We are pleased to host a candid evening with Alex Li to explore both the technology behind these tools and their implications for investors and people working in or with the finance sector.

Alex brings a rare combination of investing and technology experience to this topic. Besides finance (including roles at Deutsche Bank, Blackstone, and Silver Lake), Alex has also worked for technology companies (including Amazon and MuleSoft), giving him a distinctive perspective on technology in finance and technology–both in Asia and the US.

Alex’s current startup, Distilla, is building an Agentic OS for public equity investors, designed to help professional investors analyze stocks and fundamentals more effectively. The company’s focus is not simply to add another chatbot to an existing workflow, but to rethink how AI can support the investment process itself—accelerating insight, improving rigor, and raising the bar for professional analysis.

The evening will begin with wine and canapés, followed by an informal fireside chat and Q&A. Because the conversation may touch on market perspectives, hedge fund dynamics, and the evolving US-China technology landscape, the discussion will be off-the-record under the Chatham House Rule.

Please note that space is limited, and we would like to keep the evening intimate to encourage a candid discussion.
